RDA Urges Citizens to Verify Housing Societies Before Investing

The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has intensified its crackdown on illegal and unapproved housing schemes, urging citizens to verify the legal status of societies on its official website www.rda.gop.pk before making any investments.

RDA’s Commitment to Protect Public Interest

According to Director General (DG) Kinza Murtaza, RDA has taken firm action against violators by issuing 149 notices to illegal housing schemes operating without necessary No-Objection Certificates (NoCs) or approvals. The DG emphasized that these actions are part of RDA’s ongoing efforts to protect the public from financial exploitation.

Illegal housing schemes often operate under false pretenses, causing substantial financial losses by promising ownership of homes that exist only on paper, limited to maps and advertisements. “We are committed to utilizing all available resources to protect the public from the harmful effects of these schemes and take strict legal action against such projects,” DG Kinza Murtaza stated.

Comprehensive Action and Awareness Campaigns

The RDA has intensified its enforcement operations, targeting illegal projects such as:

  • Top View City (D-17) by Orbit International
  • Al-Baraqa Garden
  • Kohsar Extension (F-Block) and Nabeel Block
  • Ring Road Enclave by Jawahir City Pvt. Ltd.
  • Hurtus Floare, Countree Farmhouse, and Gilgit City

Enforcement actions include demolishing road infrastructure, security offices, sewerage lines, and removing advertisement boards. Additionally, RDA has sealed site offices of several unapproved housing schemes.

Legal Housing Schemes and Monitoring

Out of numerous housing schemes in the district, only 69 have obtained legal approval from the RDA. The authority has implemented a comprehensive monitoring mechanism to ensure the safety and security of public investments in these approved schemes.

Public Awareness Initiatives

To further safeguard citizens, the RDA has launched an awareness campaign encouraging the public to:

  • Verify the status of housing schemes on RDA’s website.
  • Visit RDA’s One Window Operation Centre for up-to-date information on approved and illegal projects.

“We advise everyone to consult with RDA to ensure that their investment is secure and legal,” added DG Murtaza.
