Abu Dhabi-based Falcon Aviation Services is set to revolutionize transportation in the UAE by launching air taxi services on January 1, 2026. This ambitious project, led by CEO Ramandeep Oberoi, represents a significant step toward the future of urban mobility.
Pioneering Air Taxi Infrastructure
In March 2024, Falcon Aviation partnered with US-based electric flying car manufacturer Archer Aviation to develop cutting-edge vertiport infrastructure in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Key locations include Atlantis, The Palm in Dubai and Marina Mall Heliport on Abu Dhabi’s Corniche. These advanced vertiports will facilitate passenger services using Archer’s state-of-the-art Midnight flying car, enabling scenic 30-minute journeys between the two cities, primarily over water.
Trials and Launch Timeline
Archer Aviation’s first commercial flying car flight is planned for early 2026 in Abu Dhabi. However, trials for the Midnight flying car will commence in May 2025 in Al Ain under extreme hot and dusty conditions to ensure the aircraft’s suitability for the region. Following successful trials, operations will shift to Abu Dhabi.
Addressing Traffic Congestion
Both Abu Dhabi and Dubai are embracing flying taxis as a solution to growing road traffic congestion. Initially operating within Abu Dhabi, the service aims to connect Abu Dhabi and Dubai by mid-2026, with future routes extending to Ras Al Khaimah and Al Ain.
“Initially, this service will provide a unique experience, but it will eventually become a necessity,” said Oberoi, emphasizing the need to integrate air taxis with the UAE’s robust road infrastructure.
Recruitment and Operations
Falcon Aviation is adopting a measured recruitment strategy for this project. Key team members from the US, ground operations staff, and engineers will join the existing workforce to manage vertiports and operational needs.
Cost of Air Taxi Services
Pricing discussions are ongoing, but Falcon Aviation aims to make air taxi services accessible. Oberoi stated: “Our target is around Dh1,000 per passenger for Abu Dhabi-Dubai trips and Dh300 for within-city routes.” While initial fares may be higher, the company aims to maintain prices at no more than twice the cost of a traditional taxi.
Future of Urban Transportation
With its innovative approach, Falcon Aviation Services is set to redefine travel in the UAE. The i2026 launch of air taxis marks the beginning of a new era in mobility, making travel faster, more scenic, and technologically advanced.
