UAE Launches Multi-Entry Visit Visa: Simplifying Travel for Expats

In a groundbreaking move, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has introduced a new multi-entry visit visa aimed at simplifying travel for foreign nationals. This visa allows expatriates to visit relatives and friends without the need for a local sponsor or guarantor, offering flexible stay options of 30, 60, or 90 days. The initiative is set to greatly benefit expatriate communities, particularly Pakistanis, who often face challenges in obtaining visas for family and personal visits.

Who Can Apply?

The visa is designed for individuals visiting:

  • Close relatives: Parents, children, siblings, or spouses.
    • Requirement: Applicants must provide proof of relationship, such as marriage or birth certificates.
  • Friends: Eligible with valid reasons for their visit, including attending key events or spending time with close associates.

Application Process

Applying for the visa is straightforward and can be done via the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA):

  • Platforms: GDRFA website, mobile app, or service centers in the UAE.
  • Documents Required:
    • Valid passport (minimum six months validity).
    • Two recent passport-sized photographs.
    • Supporting financial documentation.
    • Employment or business-related proof (e.g., salary certificate, partnership contract, or business license).

Visa Fees and Charges

The visa fees are structured based on the duration:

  • 30-day visa: AED 300 (~PKR 22,755)
  • 60-day visa: AED 500 (~PKR 37,925)
  • 90-day visa: AED 700 (~PKR 53,095)

Additionally, a refundable deposit of AED 2,000 (~PKR 151,700) is required as financial security. Applicants must also secure medical insurance, costing AED 40–90 (~PKR 3,034–6,825), depending on the visa duration.

Why This Initiative Matters

The new visa initiative marks a significant step in enhancing the UAE’s accessibility for expatriates:

  • Simplified Family Reunions: The removal of the local sponsorship requirement makes it easier for families to reconnect.
  • Flexibility in Stay: Visitors can choose a duration that suits their needs.
  • Economic Impact: Encourages international travel and promotes tourism.

This development is particularly significant for Pakistani nationals, enabling smoother family reunions and personal visits while eliminating past complexities.

The UAE’s multi-entry visit visa is a testament to its commitment to fostering global connectivity and supporting expatriate communities. By streamlining the application process and offering flexible options, the UAE continues to solidify its position as a hub for innovation, inclusivity, and global mobility.
