Pakistan Reduces Hajj 2025 Airfare: Rs. 1.24 Billion Savings and New Pilgrim Benefits Unveiled

The Government of Pakistan has unveiled a groundbreaking initiative to reduce airfare for Hajj pilgrims in 2025, offering significant financial relief to those embarking on this spiritual journey. The announcement comes alongside the introduction of new Hajj policies, which promise greater convenience, flexibility, and inclusivity for pilgrims.

Reduced Airfare Brings Rs. 1.24 Billion Savings

As part of the government’s efforts to make Hajj more affordable, the airfare for pilgrims under the government Hajj scheme has been reduced to Rs. 220,000 per person—a decrease of Rs. 14,000 compared to last year’s rate of Rs. 234,000. This adjustment equates to a savings of $50 per pilgrim and totals Rs. 1.24 billion in collective relief for the 89,605 pilgrims participating in the scheme.

The reduction was made possible through successful negotiations between the Ministry of Religious Affairs and airlines, including Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), marking the second consecutive year of airfare reductions. Agreements with other airlines, such as Saudi Airlines and private Pakistani carriers, are expected to be finalized soon.

Travel Allocation Among Airlines

Pilgrim travel under the government scheme will be divided as follows:

  • 40% of pilgrims will fly with PIA.
  • 40% will travel via Saudi Airlines.

Flexible Travel Options and Empowering Women Pilgrims

The Hajj packages now offer two options:

In an empowering move, women are now permitted to perform Hajj without a male guardian, provided they submit a sworn affidavit from their father or husband.

The 2025 Hajj Policy reflects the government’s commitment to making the pilgrimage more affordable, accessible, and inclusive. From reduced airfare and flexible payment plans to empowering policies for women and streamlined travel arrangements, this initiative represents a step forward in facilitating the spiritual journey for all eligible pilgrims.
