Match Summary
Batting first, Bangladesh posted a total of 140 runs, losing 7 wickets in their innings. Pakistan chased down the target with ease, reaching the required score without losing a wicket.
The star of the match was Nisar Ali, who led the charge with a spectacular half-century, scoring 50 runs off just 22 balls, showcasing his explosive batting skills.
Undefeated Champions
Pakistan’s victory marks their first Blind T20 World Cup title. The team remained undefeated throughout the tournament, demonstrating their dominance in blind cricket.
India’s Absence from the Tournament
The tournament, held across Lahore and Multan, saw teams from various countries participate, but India was notably absent. Despite receiving a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Sports Ministry, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) did not permit the Indian blind cricket team to travel to Pakistan.
Sailendra Yadav, the general secretary of the Indian Blind Cricket Association, expressed disappointment, stating:
“We waited for 25 days for government permission to travel to Pakistan. Unfortunately, we received verbal communication from the MEA that no permission would be granted, and we had to cancel our participation.”
This decision deprived the tournament of a key competitor, but it did not dampen the spirits of the participating teams.
A Historic Moment for Pakistan
The victory in the Blind T20 World Cup is a significant achievement for Pakistan, highlighting their growing prowess in blind cricket. The win is expected to boost the sport’s popularity and inspire more athletes to pursue blind cricket in Pakistan.
