New Online e-Visa Application Process for Thai Visa: What You Need to Know

New Online e-Visa Application Process for Thai Visa: What You Need to Know

ISLAMABAD – Starting January 1, 2025, at 10:00 AM (UTC+7), the Royal Thai Embassy in Islamabad will begin processing Thai visa applications through a new online e-Visa platform. This change will impact all foreign nationals in Pakistan and Afghanistan looking to apply for a Thai visa.

Key Changes in the Thai Visa Application Process

With the introduction of the online e-Visa platform, applicants will no longer need to submit their passports or original documents in person. Instead, all visa applications will be submitted electronically through the platform at https://www.thaievisa.go.th. This move is part of Thailand’s ongoing efforts to streamline its visa process and improve the experience for travelers.

Payment Process for Thai Visa

While the e-Visa platform will handle the application submission, online payment is not yet available. Applicants are required to pay the visa fee in person at the Royal Thai Embassy located at Plots No. 1-20, Diplomatic Enclave, Sector G-5/4, Islamabad. This in-person payment is necessary until the online payment system is implemented.

Visa Approval and Documentation

Once an applicant’s e-Visa application is approved, they will receive a confirmation email. This email must be printed and presented both:

  1. To the airline at the time of departure.
  2. To Thai immigration officials upon arrival in Thailand.

This printed confirmation is essential for smooth travel to Thailand.

Transition Period: In-Person Applications

To ease the transition to the new digital application process, the embassy will continue accepting in-person visa applications until December 24, 2024. After this date, only online applications will be processed through the new platform.

Why This Change is Happening

Thailand is modernizing its visa procedures as part of a broader effort to simplify travel for foreign nationals while maintaining efficient consular services. This new system is expected to save time and improve overall convenience for travelers from Pakistan and Afghanistan.
