Islamabad Drives Into the Future: Electric Vehicle Charging Stations and Free E-Bikes Announced

In a bold move towards sustainable urban development, Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain has instructed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to install electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at all petrol pumps across Islamabad. This directive came during the fourth meeting of the Electric Vehicles Policy, showcasing the government’s commitment to transforming the capital into a green and eco-friendly model city.

 

EV Infrastructure Expansion: Charging Stations Across Islamabad

The minister lauded the CDA’s ongoing efforts and emphasized the importance of infrastructure to support the growing adoption of electric vehicles. In addition to the city-wide installations, 40 charging stations are being constructed along motorways and national highways. To ensure transparency and efficiency, the entire process will be digitized, aligning with the government’s vision for a smart and sustainable Pakistan.

 

Empowering Students with Free Electric Bicycles

As part of the initiative to encourage eco-friendly transportation, the top 120 students of the Federal Board will receive free electric bicycles. This gesture not only promotes green mobility but also incentivizes academic excellence. Furthermore, 39,000 electric bicycles and 1,900 electric rickshaws will soon be available on subsidized loans, enabling more citizens to adopt cleaner modes of transport.

 

Islamabad: A Model City in the Making

Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain reiterated the government’s vision to make Islamabad a model city. The city’s transformation reflects Prime Minister’s aspirations for sustainable urban planning, aiming to set a benchmark for other cities in Pakistan.
